This over 250-bed not-for-profit level II trauma center offers an array of inpatient and outpatient services, including bariatrics, behavioral health, diagnostics, emergency services, radiology, and surgical services, among others. Together with its sister campus, this facility was ranked #3 in Nebraska by the U.S. News and World Report. The same publication also declared it “high performing” for its treatment of COPD and heart failure and for its execution of abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs, knee replacements, hip replacements, colon cancer surgeries, and heart bypass surgeries.

Surg Tech Job Responsibilities
CST's prepare operating rooms for surgery, sterilize equipment, and ensure adequate supplies for surgery. They ready patients for surgery, and help surgeons by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
Certification is often required as a condition of employment. To earn certification, operating room technicians must pass a nationally administered examination. They must be currently or previously certified or be a graduate of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program. The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is the certifying agency. Renewal requires continuing education credits or retaking the certifying exam. There is also an advanced credential for surgical first assistants.
